Here's proof, from the 2014 Christmas masses, that our ministers are always very 'merry' to serve-
A message from our fearless leader-
"I would like to personally thank all of the lectors and commentators who participated at the various services and masses during Holy Week 2014, the Easter Vigil, and all of the Easter Sunday masses. Everyone did an excellent job which shows how very blessed we are to have such an accomplished group of ministers. I hope everyone had a terrific Easter. God bless you all and thank you for your continued service to this exciting ministry." [originally posted as a comment on 4/22/2014 at 8:37 am] J. Small Photos below taken at the Easter Vigil. Courtesy, L. Bower. To fully comply with archdiocesan guidelines, Fr. Riz has asked all parish volunteers to fulfill two requirements:
1) record fingerprints with VPIN (the Volunteer and Paid Personnel Information Network), and 2) be certified in VIRTUS (designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote "rightdoing" within religious organizations; renewal of certification required after elapsing every 4 years) The Lector Team, in coordination with the Parish Office, has instructed all newly-trained ministers to have both requirements fulfilled before serving in ministry. If, however, you have never undergone one or either of these (or your VIRTUS certification needs renewal), please follow the process below: A) Go to our ministry website's "Info" page (see tab above or click here- http://spclectors.weebly.com/info.html) and scroll down to "Safeguards" in the links section. B) Click the "VIRTUS Online" link and register to get an account at that website. Alternatively, click "VIRTUS Online" link above. i. Check the website for a date and location to attend a scheduled certification or renewal session, whichever applies to your situation. ii. After completing the course, make sure to get a copy of the certificate of completion and submit to the Parish Office or Lector Team. C) Click the "Fingerprinting" link and look for the monthly fingerprinting schedules. Alternatively, click "Archdiocese of Los Angeles" link above. i. Choose a location and date to make an appointment to have your fingerprints recorded. ii. After submitting your fingerprints make sure to get a copy of the form provided to submit to the Parish Office or Lector Team You are done! For your convenience, a VIRTUS certification session ("Safeguard the Children Adult Awareness Session") will be held at our very own parish on Monday, May 12 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Subsequently, a VIRTUS renewal session ("Keeping the Promise Alive Recertification Session" - must have attended the full VIRTUS session previously) will also be held at our parish on Tuesday, June 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. To register for these sessions, call (805) 526-0680. After the June 3 recertification session, the Lector Team will review all submissions to assure our pastor that all our ministers are now in compliance. Thank you in advance, for your patience and dedication! Here we are, toasting to our new ministry website at the roll-out event (red and white wine, fruit, cheese, deli sandwiches . . . and excellent company - YUM!
